The Makeup Fiasco

Now for a little back tracking. There is so much that has happened with Violet in her short four years that it would be impossible to blog about every fun moment we've had, but I can still hit on some of the highest points.

Sometimes things happen that are frustrating or can cause a lot of inconvenience but every once in a while it can make you laugh enough that you forget that you should be upset. Ever Mother has had these moments but one of the best came from when Miss Violet was three years old.

I was in the kitchen doing dishes before I had to take Violet to school. She was in preschool and it started at 12:30 so at around 11:30 I finish up the dishes and go to check on Violet in the bathroom "going potty" so that I could get her ready for school. I open up the door to this:

She had gotten into my black dream eyeliner. This stuff comes in a tiny little bottle that you use a brush with to apply it. Somehow even after Violet covered her face with it, there was still about half of it left. I didn't want to encourage her but I couldn't help but laugh. It has to be one of the funniest things I have ever experienced in my life.

After trying to wash it all off of her face in the short amount of time before school, I couldn't get it all:

She had a nice layer of eyeliner on her eyes to make her look like a baby hooker. There were some strange looks we got at her school but it was still funny.

Thanksgiving, The Best Holiday

So it has been a while since I posted, luckily not too long. For some reason I can't get my blog to show up in Google Chrome. It just sits at a blank page. Hmmmm... So I had to pull it up in Firefox.

So Thanksgiving was last week and we had a wonderful time. It was a pretty small group since most of the family was either out of town or with their in laws. It was still a lot of fun and such a nice cozy dinner, just my Mom, Dad, my brother Derek, his two boys, Miss Violet, and me.

This year Miss Violet and I decided to make some decorations for the Dinner table. Though I don't have any photos it's was pretty simple. We had some pretty paper chain garlands of rich fall colors that were laid over the table along with turkeys made out of toilet paper rolls covered in brown paper and all sorts of fun scrapbook paper prints for the feathers.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's such a loving day. The food is so amazing and for us there is a lot of it that we don't have any other day of the year. What I think makes Thanksgiving really special for me though is that it kicks off the Christmas season. I am of the opinion that Christmas in any form (decorations, music, movies, egg nog, etc.) has no place until Thanksgiving is over. So on Thanksgiving night some of the family will get together and drink our first egg nog of the season while watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. We've been doing it every year since I was born so it's a tradition that I have ingrained in me.

So even though it is very late I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and I hope that we all remember how truly lucky we are over the next year.

Cheers! ♥

In the Beginning

So I've got some catch up to do! My daughter Violet is four years old and being a single mother isn't easy but it's definitely worth everyday whether it's good or bad. Violet is the apple of my eye. Over the years she has been a healthy child and grown so much. Here are some pictures from her early years.

This is the earliest photo of her I have on my computer but I'll
scan some more pictures soon.
